The 2008 Concerts in the Park Series
Dudley Manlove Quartet
Wed, Aug 27th, 7pm
Richmond Beach Community Park
Richmond Beach Rd at 21st Ave
The Dudley Manlove Quartet -- guitarist Craig Corvin, singer Paul Jensen, drummer Jeff Mosier, bassist Steve Okimoto and keyboardist Korby Sears – are indeed a most original cover band. And since their debut in 1995, The Dudley Manlove Quartet have become one of Seattle’s top club draws, entertaining crowds with their unique mixture of cocktail lounge classics, dance favorites and one-hit wonders.
What makes them original? It’s the songs. The Dudley Manlove Quartet’s specialty is playing the songs you forgot you knew -- songs to which you know all the words, though you’re not quite sure how. They have dug through your old 8-Track collection, your K-Tel records and your homemade cassettes, pulling out those pop classics from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s that you loved then and still love today.
And it’s not just one genre – it’s swing, disco, rock, pop, ballads and TV themes. Not many bands can jump from ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” to Billy Paul’s “Me and Mrs. Jones” to Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” to the theme from Xanadu in one set. But that’s exactly what the Dudley Manlove Quartet does every night. Their shows are a swingin’ Vegas lounge, a funky wedding reception and your high school prom rolled into one giant party.
