Scholarship Guidelines
2010 Application
Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council Enrichment Scholarships are available to all Shoreline students currently in grades 7 through 11. With their teacher’s approval, students may apply for a scholarship to any program that is an enrichment opportunity e.g., art, music, drama, writing workshops or camps, etc.
Highest consideration will be given to students with financial need.
Students receiving scholarships are required to submit an evaluation to the Arts Council upon the completion of their experience that describes what they gained from the program and the value of the program for other students in the future.
Criteria: 1. Application must be signed by the student, a parent/guardian and the nominating teacher. 2. The program must take place between June 21 and August 31, 2010. 3. Up to $200 may be awarded for the scholarship. Depending on the number of applicants and cost of participation in the program, funding may be for all or a portion of the amount requested. 4. Application to the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council must include a copy of the completed application to the program the student wishes to attend. If tuition has been prepaid, proof of payment must be submitted with this application. 5. Items to be considered in evaluating the applications shall include but not be limited to: a. Teacher support for the program and the student b. Benefit to the related school and/or community program c. Financial need of the applicant or lack of support from traditional sources 6. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
Timeline: 1. May 3, 2010: Applications sent to four secondary schools to announce ARTS Enrichment Scholarship opportunity 2. June 4, 2010: Applications due to Arts Council Office by 5:00 p.m. 3. June 14, 2010: Applicants will be notified by letter. 4. Sept. 1, 2010: Student's evaluation letter due to the Arts Council. This should include student's own thoughts about the experience and the value of the program for other students in the future.
