Join artist Amaranta Sandys at the Lake Forest Park Library for this hands-on Sugar skulls / Calaveritas de Azúcar workshop. Participants will learn about Dia de los Muertos Celebration, the Altar significance where sugar skulls, candles, Cempazuchitl flower or marigolds are place to honor the departed beloved ones.

Participants will be guided how to decorate a pre-molded sugar skull using strokes of glitter fabric paint, feathers and sequins. Because Calaveras represent a loved one that had passed away, we will make a paper banner of the person or a pet that participants might dedicate.

Program will be illustrated with books, photos and colorful memorabilia about Dia de los Muertos.
*75 minutes session
*25 pre molded medium sugar skulls
*Age 6yo and up.
*Max 25 participants

Registration opens on October 7, please contact the Lake Forest Park Library at 206.362.8860

This program is presented by the Arts Council in partnership with the King County Library System. Support is provided by the City of Shoreline, City of Lake Forest Park, and 4Culture.
