ONLINE Edible Book Festival – Submit your photo by Friday April 3rd

Food, book, and, most importantly, pun lovers unite!

This year we are bringing it online! The Edible Book Festival brings people together for a lighthearted culinary, artistic, and literary celebration. Creations made from food and inspired by works of literature. (Past entries have included works titled Gourd of the Rings, War and Peas, and The Life of Pie.) Judging will be on a live stream, winners will be announced, and prizes will go in the post! Contestants are asked to include a copy of the book that inspried them in the photo. It’s the most wonderful and delicious nerd parade imaginable.

Where? This year it's online! So start planning and creating, whilst getting your necessary social distancing in, and exercise creativity in the home!

When? Submit your photo online by 10pm Friday 3rd April.

Online People's Choice Awards Voting! Our judges will vote over the weekend. We need YOUR vote for the People's Choice Awards - vote online from 8am Saturday 4th April to 4pm Sunday 5th April 2020. We will announce the winners via a live stream Sunday the 5th of April on Facebook (winners will be posted on this page immediately afterwards).

Bill, The Chocolate Man

Bill has been a chocolatier and purveyor of bulk and crafted chocolates for over 25 years. He makes everything from tiny truffles to large-scale chocolate and sugar sculptures. He is well versed in the ‘art of the chocolatier’ and loves to share his knowledge and experience. Bill is the owner of The Chocolate Man store in the lower level of the Lake Forest Park Town Center.

Susan Jones Davis, Artist/Illustrator

Fine artist and freelance illustrator Susan Jones’ art has been featured in local and national juried exhibitions; she is represented by Tsuga Fine Art & Framing in Bothell, Washington. Susan teaches Natural Science Illustration and Botanical Illustration for the University of Washington’s Extension Program, and coordinates the Art-Ins, free community art-making sessions on the first Saturday of each month at Third Place Commons.

Julie Hiers, Children’s Librarian at the Lake Forest Park Library (KCLS)

Julie has been with KCLS since 2005 and became LFP’s children’s librarian in October 2018. Before working in libraries, Julie was a graphic designer at Channel 9 television/Seattle and a reading tutor in Seattle public schools. She enjoys creating things and hiking with her family.

Bobbie Bender, Head Cake Decorator at Honey Bear Bakery

Bobbie has worked at Honey Bear Bakery in for the past five years. She studied Pastry Arts at the Art Institute of Seattle, where she learned all the exquisite decorating techniques on display in Honey Bear’s cake case. She also owns her own dessert business, Cakes and Poppery. Cakes and Poppery has been providing custom cakes and specialty desserts to the North Seattle area for the past three years.
