The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council invites submissions for a Poetry Contest in conjunction with our first annual Poetry Month Celebration, to be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 7:30 pm at Shoreline Community College Theater. Contest winners will be invited to read their poems during the event, which features readings by the newly designated Washington State Poet Laureate, Samuel Green and published Seattle poets Anna Maria Hong and Peter Pereira. Work will be judged in three separate divisions: Secondary Student (grades 7-12), College Student, and Non-Student Adult. Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded to College Student and Non-Student Adult winners; certificates and ribbons will be awarded to Secondary Student winners.
Please note: while this Poetry Contest replaces the Shoreline Arts Festival Poetry Contest, winners will also be acknowledged and read their poems at the 18th Shoreline Arts Festival, to be held on June 28 & 29, 2008 at the Shoreline Center. Winning poems will be displayed at the Festival in “Poetry Hall.”
